This programme was started off in Jukskei Park in the year 2000 on a piece of open ground with a couple of families kicking the ball around. We then approached the homeschool crowd and a small "academy" started to take shape. The fathers were involved due to small numbers of children and then of course it proved good exercise for them and a chance to interact with their own children on the sports field. We have always had a family atmosphere and welcomed anyone that was interested in gaining ball skills or improving them.
We then moved to a local indoor arena but soon outgrew that and then went onto Golden Harvest but the pitch there was very sandy, then in 2014 we approached Diggers and were able to use their grounds. From then on things started taking off. We designed kits with our logos for the players and we were becoming a serious little club. At the end of last term we bravely approached the Brazilian Soccer Club and asked if we could join them for a match and guess what? The first group won!
The club is growing from strength to strength and we are looking forward to opening two days a week and having more classes on the weekends. From small fun morning beginnings, the club has grown into a big fun family event every week and everyone is welcome.
Soccer Fun combines ball skills with fun at all levels. We are now in our fourth year of developing ball and disciplines needed for teamwork for children who are of mixed ages and not necessarily aspiring to play Premier League.
Coach Leon is passionate about soccer and developing ball skills from cricket to volley ball and enjoys nothing more than seeing the progress in the children to be the best they can be in a fun loving setting. His passion is infectious and the children respond with enthusiasm and gain skills quickly.
